For the past two years, we have built a student-centered mindful practice with our Middle School. This group of student leaders meet weekly with our counseling department and are responsible for implementing mindful practices at YACS. With their study books and bell in tow, they lead practices during homeroom, facilitate campus-wide practices at school events and support our lower grades exploration of "being still."

On campus, we emphasize that 1. As long as you are aiming for stillness you can't do it wrong and 2. Mindfulness and yoga do not belong to one community (finding that it is hard for our students to see themselves in the images promoted around mindfulness).
